Solar Thermal

Solar Thermal

Solar thermal is where the suns radiation is used to heat up your water by way of thermal collectors. This can account for nearly all of your hot water consumption during the summer months and an average of 50-70% annually. The sytem works as solar fluid circulates through the panels into a twin coil solar cylinder, which then heats the water in the central heating system. The twin coil cylinder is made up of one coil that receives the heat from the collector on the roof and another which is used to supply heat from the main household heat source when solar energy is insufficient.

On the market today there are solar thermal systems available to fit any size of building. They need to be positioned on a south facing surface that obtains south or south easterly sunlight for most of the day. Location and space are another factor that needs to be considered as twin coil cylinders are normally quite large.
